Styrofoam is an extruded polystyrene foam. It has a unique combination of physical and chemical characteristics. Styrofoam is lightweight yet strong, safe in use, and capable of being precision engineered. It contributes rigidity, durability, high strength to weight ratios and thermal performance to fabrications ranging from domestic doors to structural caravan floors.

Styrofoam has been manufactured to over 60 years and during this time its range of applications has grown steadily. It was found that materials including aluminium, steel, wood, GRP and a range of plastics could be successfully laminated onto the material to produce panels with a range of unique physical attributes.

Styrofoam Fabrication

Panel Systems have been supplying hot-wire cut Styrofoam into many different market sectors for over 25 years. Continuous hot-wire cutters enable a wide range of Styrofoam grades and blocks to be converted into sheets of differing thickness and sizes. The range of thickness starts at 6mm and increases by 0.5mm increments to a maximum single block thickness of 150mm. Thickness beyond 150mm can be obtained by bonding blocks together.

CNC Machining Styrofoam

Panel Systems offer a full 3D-Fabrication service on Styrofoam. Two CNC controlled routers provide the flexibility to achieve high output combined with flexibility in creating 3D components. Both machines are linked to CAD/ CAM computer software systems to provide an efficient system for linking directly with customers own CAD systems rapidly converting drawings into machine instructions.
